Where We Started

For too long, the commercial truck insurance industry had few options and fewer people specializing in this highly regulated type of coverage. Truck drivers and fleet managers were dependent on a few companies that may not have had the best solutions for their insurance needs.

On September 1, 1980, Sue and David Miller founded American Insurance Brokers, Inc. They imagined an insurance company that understood their customers’ needs and put them first. With extensive backgrounds in the insurance industry and a commitment to customer service, they knew that what people needed was to trust their insurance agent and to have peace of mind with their insurance coverage. Sue and David wanted their customers to have a high level of confidence in them as insurance agents who could provide the commercial vehicle insurance that Louisiana businesses were looking for.

In 1983, Sue and David Miller’s daughter, Jill Whelton, joined the family-owned agency. For 24 years, the family worked hard to build a successful, reputable, and trustworthy insurance agency. Over nearly two and a half decades, they began to refine their offerings to focus on the commercial vehicle insurance industry across the South.

In 2007, Sue and David handed over the reins to Jill, who now owns American Insurance Brokers, Inc. For over 40 years, AIB has offered the best truck and commercial vehicle insurance in Louisiana. We are now a full-service insurance agency serving the truck insurance industry in seven different Southern states.
